Taufeeq Umar
Mts: 3, Runs: 87, Ave: 17.40, HS: 58
Umar put in a formidable 2011, but 2012 is off to a worrying start for the left-hander. His lack of runs slipped under the radar thanks to the rest of the team's performance, but this will only go unnoticed for so long. Imran Farhat is knocking at the door. 4/10
Mohammad Hafeez
Mts: 3, Runs: 190, Ave: 38.00, HS: 88, Wkts: 5, Ave: 16.00, BBI: 3/54
The remarkable form he displayed last year has slowed down, but Hafeez remains top of the pops in his team's all-round stakes. Not needed with the ball much thanks to Ajmal and Rehman's alliance, but made Alastair Cook his bunny to a degree.8/10
Younis Khan
Mts: 3, Runs: 193, Ave: 38.60, HS: 127
The old dog still has it. Adamant that his role is more than to just score runs, but also guide the youngsters, Khan again took Shafiq and Ali under his wing in walking the talk. His bid to pay it forward, classic technique - and form against the spinners - served his team well. 8/10
Misbah-ul-Haq
Mts: 3, Runs: 180, Ave: 36.00, HS: 84
Still without a Test series defeat since taking over the reins in May last year and slowly but surely creeping up on the current world order, Misbah's leadership can no longer be underestimated. He'll be the first to admit that the series didn't bring his best effort with the bat, as a couple of opportunities to reach three figures were laid to waste, but the way he dispatched Monty Panesar for two sets of back-to-back sixes in Abu Dhabi was very pleasing on the eye. The first ever Pakistani captain to achieve a clean sweep over England. 8/10
Asad Shafiq
Mts: 3, Runs: 167, Ave: 33.40, HS: 58
Shafiq did just enough to get Umar Akmal off his back, but really needs to work on graduating to bigger knocks instead of settling for decent 30s and 50s. Probably the weakest link in an otherwise sound middle order. 7/10
Azhar Ali
Mts: 3, Runs: 251, Ave: 50.20, HS: 157
The dogged nature of his 553-minute stay at the crease in the third Test typified the right-hander's style of play and, really, that's what Pakistan need in their number three. With Younis happy at four, the position is his to make his own. Strong showings against Sri Lanka and now England have him in the pound seat. 8/10
Adnan Akmal
Mts: 3, Runs: 89, Ave: 17.80, HS: 61, Ct: 9, St: 2
Although still prone to the odd Kamran-esque clanger, Akmal has put Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batsman worries to bed for the time being, so much so that they've afforded him the gloves for the upcoming one-dayers against England ahead of so-called limited-overs specialist Sarfraz Ahmed. 7.5/10
Abdur Rehman
Mts: 3, Wkts: 19, Ave: 16.73, BBI: 6/25
Every great spinner needs a complementary foil. The left-armer formed a dramatic alliance with Ajmal that took 43 of the 60 English wickets to fall. Few will soon forget his six for 25 that resigned Andrew Strauss and company to a record-low 72 all out in Abu Dhabi. 9/10
Aizaz Cheema
Mts: 2, Wkts: 1, Ave: 70.00, BBI: 1/43
With 19 wickets to show for his first four Tests, Cheema has garnered just one more across his next two games. The conditions were particularly hard on him. Gul needs a new-ball partner regardless, and the workhorse right-armer - not Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan nor Tanvir Ahmed - is the best bet for the foreseeable future. 5/10
Junaid Khan
Mts: 1, Wkts: 0, Ave: -, BBI: 0/33
Old niggles didn't help the seamer's bid for a consistent series - and in the end he played just the one Test without taking a wicket. Still the best southpaw option in the absence of Messrs Asif and Amir, though. 5/10
Saeed Ajmal
Mts: 3, Wkts: 24, Ave: 14.70, BBI: 7/55
2011's leading Test wicket-taker by a long shot, Ajmal has slipped seamlessly into the new year with 24 wickets in three matches. Ian Bell didn't have a clue in the face of the doosra, Kevin Pietersen played all around the standard off-spin and the arm ball was more than enough to take care of the tail-enders. Named Man of the Series, deservedly so. 9.5/10
Umar Gul
Mts: 3, Wkts: 11, Ave: 22.27, BBI: 4/61
After ripping the heart out of England's second innings in the series opener, Gul largely took a back seat to the spinners for the rest of the tour. Importantly, though, he has now managed to string together a couple of series free of injury, which bodes well for Pakistan. They'll need to continue managing him well. 7.5/10
