England's one-day skipper, Alastair Cook, will remain with the England squad in the UAE for their three-match Twenty20 series.
Not known for his prowess in the shortest form of the game, Cook's supreme form in the ODIs has convinced the selectors that he is the man who should serve as injury cover for Ravi Boapra, who has a sore back.
Cook scored 323 runs in four one-dayers at an average of 80.75, which included two hundreds and a fifty.
With the Essex man in such good touch, he admits he would like to get as much batting under his belt as possible.
"I've been asked to stay on," Cook said. "It's not often you get to hit the ball as well as I have in the last week and a half so it's important to keep playing.
"It's been a really good week and a half for us. We've played some excellent cricket. Pakistan had an excellent record. We had a challenge and everyone in that team stood up to the challenge. Everyone can be proud of what they've done."
