England captain Alastair Cook has praised his team-mates for their all-round performance in the nine-wicket victory over Pakistan which clinched the ODI series on Saturday.

The opening batsman paid tribute to his bowlers who did exceptionally well to restrict the Pakistanis to 222 all out in their 50 overs. The in-form Steven Finn was best of the bowlers again with figures of three for 24.

"Our bowlers were outstanding, we may have been slow to start with but to keep them to 220 on that wicket was a fantastic effort. I thought everybody contributed with the ball, 220 was quite a long way below par," said Cook.

England's chase was then setup with a 170-run stand for the opening wicket between Cook (80) himself and fellow opener Kevin Pietersen who finished unbeaten on 111.

"It was a great start. When you chase a lowish total, if you get a good start you are always ahead of the eight ball. It was nice to put a match-winning partnership together at the top," added Cook.

The visitors endured a tough start to the tour of the United Arab Emirates having been whitewashed three-nil in the Test series, but after three consecutive victories in the one-day arena, England are now firmly on course to return the favour.

"We'll obviously enjoy it tonight, winning the series, but we've come here to win every game in the series and hopefully we can come back here in three days' time and put in a really good performance again," Cook added.
