Majid Haq struck a patient 89 not out as Scotland ended the third day of the opening Intercontinental Cup match against the Netherlands on 237 for three at Mannofield Park on Thursday.

Play finally got under way in Aberdeen after the opening two days were wiped out because of rain, with Haq one of three Scotland batsmen to make a half-century.

Ryan Flannigan (60) and Kyle Coetzer (52) weighed in with decent knocks as the Dutch endured a tough day in the field. Haq and nightwatchman Preston Mommsen, yet to score, were the unbeaten batsmen at the close.

Mudassar Bukhari had team-best bowling figures of 2-70 for the Netherlands, which won the toss.
